The German national team has won an exhibition game 10-2 against Belgium on Saturday in Heidenheim. Both team meet again today in Ulm. Belgium took a fast 2-0 lead after three innings against Germany’s starting pitcher Eugen Heilmann and held on to it until the fifth thanks to a solid pitching by Terence Antonacci. Sascha Lutz tied the game with a two-run single in the fifth. Four-run rallies in the sixth and eighth secured the victory for the team of head coach Greg Frady.
While Sunday’s game is going to be the last warm-up for Germany, Belgium is going to play another exhibition on Wednesday in Tuebingen against Great Britain. On opening day of the European Championship next Friday, Germany will face the Ukraine in Stuttgart, Belgium takes on France in Neuenburg. As Group A opponents they will play against each other next Sunday in Stuttgart.
