The quarterfinals in the German Softball-Bundesliga began last weekend. While defending champion Mannheim Tornados picked up 10-2 and 5-1 wins on the road against the Hamburg Knights, the other three northern clubs remaining in the competition dominated. The Brauweiler Raging Abbots stunned the number two seed from the south, Haar Disciples, with 9-3 and 2-0 victories. The two top-ranked clubs from the north the Neunkirchen Nightmares (15-3, 9-1 vs. Herrenberg Wanderers) and the Wesseling Vermins (11-1, 10-1 vs. Karlsruhe Cougars) celebrated lopsided sweeps on the road. The quarterfinals will be concluded this weekend with games three to five. The winners of the series will clinch a spot at the Final Four on September 18 and 19 in Ratingen.
