The semifinals in the German Baseball-Bundesliga started this past weekend with games one and two. In game one on Saturday the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg ended the 40-0 run of the Bonn Capitals with a 6-1 win behind strong pitching of Mike Bolsenbroek. On Sunday the Capitals rebounded with a 9-3 win thanks to eight innings of Markus Solbach to knot the best-of-5 series at 1-1.
In the second semi-final defending champion Heidenheim Heidekoepfe is sporting a 2-0 lead after 9-8 and 11-0 wins over the Solingen Alligators. Especially game one was a thrilling game, which featured two teams on the same level and another home run by Mitch Nilsson. In game two RJ Hively pitched seven no-hit innings to lead Heidenheim to a shutout.
Games three to potentially five will be played in Bonn and Solingen next weekend. The finals are scheduled after the Super 6.
