Untouchables win Series 3-1
The Untouchables Paderborn stunned the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe with a pair of rallies to win the semi-final series 3-1 on Saturday. In game three Paderborn scored five runs in the seventh against reliever Aaron Hornostaj to prevail 6-4. Kyle Botha cleared the bases with a double to cap the rally. In game four Heidenheim led twice, but the U’s came out victorious by a score of 7-4. Brian Fields walked nine, but managed to allow just four unearned runs on four hits in a 13-strikeout complete game.
Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg – Solingen Alligators 2-1 (10), 7-0
Buchbinder Legionaere win Series 3-1
Defending champion Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg won their series with the Solingen Alligators also in four games. In game three Ludwig Glaser tied the game with Regensburg’s first hit, a double, in the seventh inning. He later scored the game winner in the tenth inning, when Chris Zirzlmeier had a walk-off RBI single, their second hit in the contest. Mehmet Alban had given Solingen a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Mike Bolsenbroek won the duel on the mound against a strong, but unlucky Andre Hughes. In the second game the Buchbinder Legionaere produced 17 hits in a 7-0 shutout. Ludwig Glaser and Evan LeBlanc had four hits apiece. Justin Kuehn cruised through six scoreless innings for the win.
