We didn’t pay much attention to the 2009 playdowns in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. But after last weekend’s matches everything is set. The PULHEIM GOPHERS in the north and the GAUTING INDIANS in the south, have to play a relegation series this fall, if there will be teams from the 2nd Baseball-Bundesliga, which want to get the right for promotion.
The GOPHERS already were stuck on seventh place in the north due to two losses on August 2nd against the COLOGNE CARDINALS. The INDIANS, which had to forfeit two games on August 1st, still had an outside chance to leave seventh in the south, but due to the two victories by the HAAR DISCIPLES over the SAARLOUIS HORNETS last Saturday the standings also were set there. The playdowns end with two meaningless matchups this upcoming weekend.
Saarlouis Hornets – Gauting Indians 9-0, 9-0
Cologne Cardinals – Pulheim Gophers 9-3, 5-4
Haar Disciples – Saarlouis Hornets 5-4, 15-5
