While the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg and the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe have reached the German finals on Saturday, the playdowns in the Baseball-Bundesliga continued this weekend as well.
In the northern division the Dortmund Wanderers made a big step towards securing fifth place in the final standings this weekend with a pair of sweeps against the Pulheim Gophers and the Cologne Cardinals. The Cards on the other hand, also split a doubleheader against the Dohren Wild Farmers and missed out on the opportunity to leave eighth place.
In the southern division the Mainz Athletics said farewell to their old ballpark Sandflora with a pair of lopsided wins over the Gauting Indians, solidifying sixth place. The Saarlouis Hornets also celebrated the sweep, out-scoring the Neuenburg Atomics 21-1 to improve to 15-21.
