The Heidenheim Heidekoepfe crushed the Haar Disciples 29-0 on Friday evening in the German Baseball-Bundesliga. One day after Haar clinched the playoffs they had no chance in a matchup of postseason participants. Heidenheim scored seven runs in the first highlighted by a Philip Schulz grand slam. 19 runs in the third blew the score way up. Jay Pecci and Luke Sommer also went deep. Sommer also pitched five strong innings. James McOwen and Simon Guehring scored four runs apiece.
While the Stuttgart Reds have to settle for fifth place in the south, they started off the last weekend of the regular season with a 9-4 win over the Mainz Athletics. Six runs combined in the third and the fourth delivered the early blow. Craig Pycock scored three times and drove in three. Marcel Raab had all three hits for the A’s. Thomas De Wolf conceded just three hits, four runs (3 ER) and five walks in eight strong innings. He struck out eight.
