The Bonn Capitals won game one of the German Baseball Finals on Wednesday with an 8-3 victory over the Heidenheim Heideköpfe. In a rematch of last year’s finals in the German Baseball-Bundesliga the Caps took the lead with a five-run rally in the fourth. Maurice Wilhelm, Danny Lankhorst and Kevin van Meensel drove in two runs each. Sascha Lutz hit a solo home run for Heidenheim as part of a three-hit day. Markus Solbach issued 11 hits, but only allowed three runs in eight innings for the win. Luke Sommer got charged with five runs (4 ER) on five hits and three walks in 3 1/3 innings. Game two and three will be played next weekend in Heidenheim.
