The Gauting Indians have added the 25-year-old right-handed pitcher Kyle Kearcher. He is scheduled to arrive on April 9th in Munich and is going to be the second-game starter for the German Baseball-Bundesliga club. Alex Howard, who started game two against the Haar Disciples, moves into the bullpen, where he will join Jakub Janda and Dominik Hartinger. John Dobkowski is set as starter for game one each game day.
The 6’6’’ Kearcher pitched the last three seasons in the independent Frontier League, going 8-17 with an ERA of 5.38 in 39 games (35 starts). He struck out 155 batters in 202 1/3 innings, while walking 48. Before his professional career he spent four seasons with the Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio (NCAA Division I), where he had a 14-10 record and an ERA of 5.06 in 39 appearances (23 starts). In 169 college innings he struck out 88 and walked 36.
The Indians lost 2-14 and 6-10 against Haar on Monday and will face the Mannheim Tornados at home next Sunday.
