Gauting Indians to add INF Kory Twede for Home Opener against Regensburg

Posted on April 15, 2010April 15, 2010 by philipp

Mister-Baseball.com has learned that the German Baseball-Bundesliga club Gauting Indians will add infielder Kory Twede to its roster. The 22-year-old, who was born in Kent, Washington, is expected to arrive on Friday, right in time for their home opener against the undefeated Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg on Sunday. Update 4/15, 11.30pm CET: His arrival might be delayed due to the Volcano in Iceland.

Twede played the past two years for the Wright State University (NCAA Division I) after transferring from Big Bend Community College. He batted .320 (OBP .357/SLG .504) with eight homeruns, 38 runs and 49 RBI through 86 games in two seasons Horizon League. He should be considered a slick fielder, as he became just the sixth player in WSU history to finish a season with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 2009.

The Indians, which already had added pitchers John Dobkowski, Jakub Janda and Kyle Kearcher in the past few weeks, started the year with two losses against local rivals Haar Disciples on Easter Monday. They were also supposed to play the Mannheim Tornados last Sunday, but snow caused a postponement.
