Due to more rain hitting the area, all scheduled games on Friday got cancelled before one pitch was thrown at the Women’s Softball World Championship. Japan, Canada, Cuba and New Zealand had qualified for the medal round from Pool A, USA, Australia, China and the Netherlands as lone European team from Pool B.
Competition now is supposed to resume play on Saturday morning with matchups Australia-Japan and Canada-USA at 10am. Afterwards New Zealand takes on Chinese Taipei and China squares off against the Netherlands. In the afternoon the next phase is scheduled following with the Gold and Bronze Medal Games on Sunday. All consolation round games are not going to be played this year.
