French Division I: Rouen Huskies, Templiers Senart reach Finals

Posted on August 16, 2016August 16, 2016 by philipp

The Rouen Huskies and the Templiers Senart have reached the finals in the French Division I. The Huskies completed a three-game sweep in the semi-finals against Stade Toulousain. After celebrating a pair of lopsided victories in Toulouse, Rouen edged out the Tigers 5-4 in the decisive third game of the series. Larry Infante scored the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth after a sac fly by Bastien Dagneau.

Senart needed four games to eliminate the Montpellier Barracudas from contention. Both teams had split the first two games in Montpellier. At home in Senart the hosts celebrated 3-2 and 4-1 victories to return to the final series for the first time since winning the championship in 2014. Rouen had beaten Montpellier in last year’s finals.
