The Rouen Huskies are one win away from defending their championship in the French Division I. On Sunday they edged out the Montigny Cougars 4-3 in game two of the best-of-five finals, taking a 2-0 lead in the series. A sac fly by Dylan Gleeson gave Rouen a 1-0 lead in the third. A two-run home run by David Gauthier and a RBI fielder’s choice by Valentin Durier extended the advantage to four runs in the fifth. A two-run single by Simon Vincente and a RBI double by Juan Carela in the sixth and seventh brought Montigny within a run. But they weren’t able to tie the game afterwards. Kender Villegas struck out 11 in nine innings for the win. Jonathan Mottay got charged with the loss.
