Posted on August 31, 2007August 31, 2007 by MrBB

The French National Team claimed the Bronze medal at the “Good Luck Beijing 2007″ International Basketball Tournament held earlier this month in China. Japan (5-0) defeated China 5-2 to capture the tourney title while the Czech National Team placed fourth.

The two European teams split a pair of games with the Czech Republic (1-4) taking the first contest 6-1. France (1-4) scored four runs in the top of the 11th inning to break a 4-4 tie and register an 8-4 win.

The tournament took place at the new Wukesong complex in the west of the Chinese capital that will host the 2008 Olympic baseball competition. The Chinese team, managed by former Chicago Cubs manager Jim Lefebvre, featured four players who have signed professional Major League Baseball contracts.
