Four sweeps in second week of Italian Baseball League

Rangers Redipuglia – Telemarket Rimini 2-13

RIMINI used two five-run innings to blow a close game against the RANGERS open. The promoted club had cut the deficit to a run in the bottom of the fifth on a homerun by Max Sartori. But the offense of TELEMARKET woke up and put the first five-spot on the board in the next frame.

Mario Chiarini drove in four runs. Jack Santora and Alexander Juan scored each three times.

Buddy Bengel received the win after six solid innings. He allowed six hits, two runs (1 ER) and a walk. Chris Di Roma closed out the contest with three punch-outs in two perfect innings. Matteo Bertoldi gave up four runs, three runs and four base on balls in 4 1/3 innings.

Rangers Redipuglia – Telemarket Rimini 1-4

RIMINI swept the series against the RANGERS with a 4-1 victory on Saturday evening. They took a fast 3-0 lead on a two-run homerun by Amaury Garcia and a RBI-double by Juan Melo. After a REDIPUGLIA run through a RBI-single by Marco Ricciarelli in the fifth, Clinton Balgera added an insurance run through a RBI-single.

Sandy Patrone went seven innings for the win. He only gave up three hits, one run and three walks. Andrea Cossar struck out eight, but was also charged with seven hits, four runs and two bb in six frames.

T&A San Marino – De Angelis Godo 9-4

Martin Vazquez had a homerun and four RBI and Marco Benvenuti drove in three, as SAN MARINO finished of the sweep against GODO. They scored first and build up the lead steadily. DE ANGELIS tried to rally at the end, but the deficit was too big.

Matteo Tonellato pitched six one-hit inning, while walking five in the win. He struck out one. Lino Luciani took the loss after four hits, four runs and five bb in six innings.

Danesi Nettuno – Montepaschi Grosseto 7-8 (12)

GROSSETO completed the sweep in NETTUNO with a 8-7 win after twelve thrilling innings. After the game went to extra-innings the batters woke up. MONTEPASCHI scored three runs in the top of the twelfth after both teams had scored twice in the eleventh. Antony Caraccioli pushed the go-ahead run over the plate with a squeeze bunt. Jorge Nunez followed with a two-run single. However DANESI tried to rally again the bottom of the frame. They brought two runs in on sac flies by Juan Camilo and Giuseppe Mazzanti. But that was the end, as Vincent Parisi flied out and Ennio Retrosi struck out.

Jairo Ramos (GRO) drove in three. Ramon Tavarez (NET) hit a homerun and scored three times overall. The starters showed solid performances. Riccardo De Santis (GRO) allowed three hits, two unearned runs and three walks in five innings. Carlos Richetti (NET) gave up four hits, three runs and four bb in 5 2/3 innings. Emiliano Ginanneschi received the win, Mauro Salcicca the loss.

FORTITUDO also won the second game of the series against CARIPARMA. They took the lead on three runs in the second on an error and a two-run homerun by Juan Angrisano. PARMA cut the deficit to a run on a RBI-double by Michele Gerali and a RBI by Pascula Matos. But BOLOGNA added an insurance run in the fourth through a RBI-single by Ryner Bautista.

Fabio Betto received the win. He pitched seven innings, allowing six hits, two runs and a walk, while striking out six. Flippo Mori started for PARMA. He was charged with six hits, four runs and three bb in three-plus innings.

Fortitudo Bologna – Cariparma 8-1

BOLOGNA used a six-run second to sweep CARIPARMA on Sunday afternoon. Richard Austin delivered the highlight play, hitting a grand slam. Giovanni Pantaleoni and Manuel Gasparri drove in two.

Cody Cillo gave up five hits, one run and two bb in six innings, striking out seven for the win. Michael Jared Natale took his first loss of the season. He allowed eleven hits, eight runs and two walks in 6 2/3 innings.
