The final round at the 2014 European Championship commences on Thursday, September 18 with the first games in Brno, Czech Republic. The first round, which was played in Regensburg, Germany and Ostrava, Czech Republic, ended on Tuesday. Italy (2-0), the Netherlands (2-0), France (1-1), Spain (1-1), Czech Republic (0-2) and Germany (0-2) have advanced to the final phase, which will be played in a round-robin format.
Italy and the Netherlands seem to be on line for a third straight finals matchup. France and Spain still have a chance if they can upset one of the two top teams in European Baseball. For Germany and the Czech Republic it will be an uphill battle to pick up a medal on Sunday in Brno. All final round games will be played in Brno.
Meanwhile the classification round will be played in Trebic and Blansko. The latter will see the game for seventh place between Belgium and Russia on Thursday evening. Croatia, Greece, Great Britain and Sweden will play a couple of consolation round games on Thursday and Friday in Trebic hoping to avoid relegation. Only two of the four will remain in the A-Pool.
