Former second baseman Filip Van Der Meiren, who retired following the 2009 season, is taking over as new head coach of the Belgian First Division club Brasschaat Braves. He succeeds Dirk Pissiersens. Van Der Meiren ended his career at the Port of Antwerp Greys after 14 seasons last year, so he could focus on the Flemish Baseball Academy, where he is the coordinator. The Braves last won the championship in Belgian Baseball in 2004 and finished the 2010 season in fourth place.
