After the exhibition game between Germany and France to open the France International Baseball Tournament Yoshida Challenge in Senart, France on Wednesday, the tournament got underway with the first two official games. In the afternoon the Netherlands out-slugged Germany 12-4. In the evening the International Stars prevailed over host France 9-4.

The Netherlands erased an early 1-3 deficit against Germany to win 12-4 in their first game of the Yoshida Challenge on Wednesday. Nine combined runs in the fourth and fifth turned the game around for the squad of Steve Janssen. Dwayne Kemp tied the contest with a two-run double. Dashenko Ricardo had a key two-run single during a six-run rally. Dudley Leonora hit a three-run home run. Randolph Oduber also went deep for the Dutch team. Meanwhile Max Boldt and Shawn Larry hit home runs for the German national team. Diegomar Markwell received the win after issuing six hits, three runs and two walks in five frames. Enorbel Marquez-Ramirez conceded five hits, four runs and a base on balls in 3 1/3 innings to take the loss.

The International Stars stunned France with a 9-4 victory in the evening game at the Yoshida Challenge on Wednesday. Four runs in the third gave the Stars the lead. Brandon Marshall had a big two-run triple during the rally. They then scored five more runs between the fourth and the seventh to down the host. Maxwell Mac Nabb of the Templiers Senart hit a solo home run and drove in two. Bastien Dagneau went 3-for-4 and scored twice for the French team. Jimmy Jensen conceded nine hits, four runs and a walk in eight innings to pick up the win. Lucas Serafin got charged with five hits, six runs (3 ER) and a base on balls in three-plus innings to take the loss.
The Yoshida Challenge continues with two games on Friday. In the afternoon the two day-one winners meet, as the International Stars take on the Netherlands. In the evening game France gets an opportunity for payback of Wednesday’s loss, as they square off against Germany.
