Apollo Bratislava has won its own Federations Cup Qualifier in Bratislava, Slovakia. With the 10-1 win over the Zurich Barracudas in the final on Saturday afternoon Slovakia secures a spot in next year’s Federations Cup.
The final score of 10-1 in the final is a bit misleading. Zurich took a 1-0 lead in the fourth. Apollo then put four runs on the board in the fifth to take the lead and blew the score wide open with five runs in the ninth. Mario Gottschall, Matus Repasky and Denis Paksi scored two runs apiece in the final. Lukas Zilavy pitched five solid innings for the win. Anthony Barreto close it out. Colin Bruce had driven in the only run for the Barracudas.
During the closing ceremony Lukas Zilavy (Apollo Bratislava) was named MVP, Harry Wischnewski Best Batter and Evan Brisentine (both Zurich Barracudas) Best Pitcher.
