On day four of the preliminary round at the 2018 Federations Cup in Brasschaat, Belgium the Astros Valencia improved to 4-0 with a 25-5 blowout over Apollo Bratislava. 14 runs in the sixth innings blew the score wide wide open. Kelvin Tejeda hit two home runs, while Eric Segura and Edison Valerio went deep once each.
The second previously undefeated team, the Sölvesborg Firehawks lost to the Brasschaat Braves 5-6 in the evening game. Sölvesborg took a quick 5-0 lead after three innings, but a pair of three-run frames in the fourth and fifth lifted the Braves to the win. Both teams are 3-1 after four days in the competition.
In between the ASAK Athletics Attnang-Puchheim pulled off a comeback for the ages. Down by six runs entering the bottom of the ninth innings the A’s scored seven runs en route to a 16-15 win over Vindija Varazdin. Raphael Mayr had the game-winner with a walk-off RBI double. Dennis Schutz drove in five for Varazdin.
