Poland’s Stal Kutno got off to a great start as the first of two Federation Cup tournaments began in Trnava, Slovakia. Meanwhile, in the afternoon game, the home side Angels faced Bulgaria’s Sofia Blues. Vålerenga, the representative from Norway, had the day off.
The tournament runs from June 8–13, while the second Federation Cup takes place in Kaunas featuring four additional teams. Each tournament features a round robin, with the top two teams from each group advancing to a championship game. The Federation Cup is the third-ranked of four WBSC Europe cups.
