Fangraphs prospect analyst Eric Logenhagen has tipped Slovakian LHP Adam Macko to break into the site’s Top-100 prospect list in 2024.
Longehagen describes Macko, who was born in Slovakia before moving to Ireland and then Canada, as “another lower-slot lefty with an upshot fastball and huge secondary stuff, most significantly a plus low-80s changeup and most hilariously a 68-mph rainbow curveball, the slower of Macko’s two breakers. The curveball’s depth is so ridiculous that it might flummox big league hitters despite its speed.”
MLB Pipeline is complimentary about the 22-year-old southpaw as well, ranking him as a Top-10 Blue Jays prospect, albeit one who will need to rebound from an injury-plagued 2022 season. Macko managed just 38.1 innings at High-A due to injuries to a knee and an elbow, but he finished the year by impressing at the 2022 Arizona Fall League.
Macko, who has steadily climbed the prospect rankings in recent years, joined the Toronto Blue Jays in the offseason as part of the Teoscar Hernandez trade with the Seattle Mariners.
