Here’s an update going into Sunday’s games. We’ll aim to do a weekly update through the end of August, as there are many more players to keep track of now that the short season leagues are underway.
Over the last few days, Germany’s Donald Lutz was sent down to Double-A after nearly two months on the Cincinnati Reds big league roster… and Italy’s Alex Liddi was designated for assignment – removed from the 40-man roster of the Seattle Mariners. He’ll now go through waivers, and is likely to be claimed by another team.
MLB –
Didi Gregorius, Arizona Diamondbacks. Netherlands.
Current team: Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB)
Gregorius is hitting .269 over the past 10 days at SS for the D’backs. Overall he maintains a .286 batting average and .348 OBP. The 23-year-old Amsterdam native “hit” a go-ahead bunt single in the 11th inning Friday to beat the Washington Nationals.
Roger Bernadina, Washington Nationals. Netherlands.
Current team: Washington Nationals (MLB)
Bernadina is back from his eye infection – he’s 4 for 18 over the last 10 days with 3 runs scored.. For the 2013 season the outfielder is now hitting .186 with 14 runs, 2 home runs, and 2 stolen bases.
Triple A-
Alex Liddi, Seattle Mariners. Italy.
Current team: TBD
Liddi was designated for assignment by the Seattle Mariners on Friday. He’d hit .235 with a pair of homers in Triple-A over the past two weeks since his demotion from the majors.
Kalian Sams, San Diego Padres. Netherlands.
Current Team: Tucson Padres (AAA)
Sams has played sparingly over the past two weeks in Triple-A, and the outfielder hasn’t recorded a hit in 15 at bats during that time. He’s had one start and a string of pinch-hit appearances.
Kai Gronauer, New York Mets. Germany.
Current Team: Las Vegas 51’s (AAA)
The German catcher is back to health and on the active roster, playing Thursday and Friday for the first time in a month. Gronauer went two-for-seven in those two games, including a home run. He’s hitting .280 in 11 games on the season.
Double A-

Current team: Pensacola Blue Wahoos (AA)
Lutz continued swinging a hot bat immediately on his arrival in Pensacola, after his previously mentioned demotion from Dusty Baker’s team. Lutz has played 3 games back in Double-A, and is hitting .500 with two stolen bases.
Tom Stuifbergen, Minnesota Twins. Netherlands.
Current team: New Britain Rockcats (AA)
Stuifbergen had two starts in the past two weeks, giving up 11 runs in 8.1 innings with 3 Ks and 3 walks. His record in Double-A stands at 2-1 with an ERA of 9.87.
Loek van Mil, Cincinnati Reds. Netherlands.
Current team: Pensacola Blue Wahoos (AA)
van Mil’s gave up two runs while recording 1 out on June 22nd; otherwise he posted zeros in 5 appearances in the past two weeks. He has a 3.86 ERA and 6 saves for the season.
Single A-
Rodney Daal, San Diego Padres. Netherlands.
Current team: Fort Wayne Tincaps (A)
Daal is hitting .278 in the past two weeks, including his second triple of the season. He’s hitting .250 through 40 games, with 4 HR, 3 SB, 35 K and 6 walks.
Max Kepler, Minnesota Twins. Germany.
Current team: Cedar Rapids Kernels (A)
Kepler’s played in 9 games over the past two weeks, after sitting out the spring with elbow pain. The lefty outfielder has 5 doubles and two home runs in that short time, with a .278/.381/.583 (batting average, on base percentage, slugging percentage) slash line.
Nick Urbanus, Texas Rangers. Netherlands.
Current team: Hickory Crawdads (A)
Urbanus had 1 hit in 11 at-bats over the past two weeks before going on the Disabled List today. He’s hitting .169 in 20 games thus far.
Rookie –
Martin Cervenka, Cleveland Indians. Czech Republic.
Current team: Mahoning Valley Scrappers (rookie)
Cervenka is 4-for-20 to begin the season with the Scrappers, with two doubles and 4 walks in his first 6 games.
Dovydas Neverauskas, Pittsburgh Pirates. Lithuania.
Current team: Jamestown Jammers (rookie)
The righty has made 3 starts, and has a 6.52 ERA and 4 strikeouts in 9.2 innings.
Lars Huijer, Seattle Mariners. Netherlands.
Current team: Everett AquaSox (rookie)
Huijer is 2-0 in his first 3 starts, tallying 18.2 innings with a 2.89 ERA and 17 Ks vs 5 walks.
Scott Ronnenbergh, Seattle Mariners. Netherlands.
Current team: Pulaski Mariners (rookie)
Ronnenbergh has two appearances in the new season, with 3 strikeouts in 3.1 innings pitched and a 2.70 ERA while being credited with one loss.

The former Wild Farmer is 1-0 with 2 hits and no runs allowed through his first 3 appearances/5 innings.

The righty from Dormagen has allowed 7 hits in 4.1 innings spread over 3 appearances. He’s got one win, one loss, 2 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.08.

The catcher from Toulouse is hitting .304 with 6 RBI in his first 6 games of the season.
