As the big league teams enter the All Star break, the games at the lower levels continue. Here’s the latest on the European players in MLB organizations.
In the past two weeks, four Europeans have signed professional contracts. Marten Gasparini (Italy) set a new European record with a $1.3 million bonus from the Kansas City Royals. Sven Schueller (Germany) signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Dutchmen Ruar Verkerk and Rachid Engelhardt signed with the Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles, respectively. All four are in Prague this week for the European 18U Championship.
MLB –
Didi Gregorius, Arizona Diamondbacks. Netherlands.
Current team: Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB)
Gregorius is hitting .222 in July, .275 overall with 5 home runs.
Roger Bernadina, Washington Nationals. Netherlands.
Current team: Washington Nationals (MLB)
With a pair of Nats outfielders returning to health, Bernadina has exclusively been a substitute in July, with a hit in 5 at bats. He’s hitting .187 with two home runs in 139 at bats for the season.
Triple A-
Alex Liddi, Baltimore Orioles. Italy.
Current team: Norfolk Tides (AAA)
Since being picked up by the Orioles, Liddi has played 6 games for the Tides. He’s hit .304 with a home run.
Kalian Sams, San Diego Padres. Netherlands.
Current Team: Tucson Padres (AAA)
The outfielder has hit .235 in his last 10 games, including a home run Friday night.
Kai Gronauer, New York Mets. Germany.
Current Team: Las Vegas 51’s (AAA)
Gronauer is back on the Disabled List, having not played since July 2nd. He’s hitting .258 over 14 games for the year.

Donald Lutz, Cincinnati Reds. Germany.
Current team: Pensacola Blue Wahoos (AA)
The German outfielder is hitting .143 since the calendar turned to July. Lutz is hitting .223 in 37 minor league games.
Tom Stuifbergen, Minnesota Twins. Netherlands.
Current team: New Britain Rockcats (AA)
In his 7 games at Double-A New Britain, Stuifbergen is 3-1 with a 6.23 ERA. He had two starts and a relief appearance in the last two weeks, allowing 2 runs across 13 innings.
Loek van Mil, Cincinnati Reds. Netherlands.
Current team: Pensacola Blue Wahoos (AA)
In 34 appearances, van Mil is 0-5 with a 3.56 ERA and 7 saves. He hasn’t allowed a run the last two weeks.

Rodney Daal, San Diego Padres. Netherlands.

Daal is hitting .260 for the year in Fort Wayne. He’s put up a .364 average over the last two weeks, including a 2 home run game on July 5th.
