The European Softball Championship Junior Women in Rosmalen, Netherlands opened on Monday with lots of rain and busy re-scheduling. Only five games got played in the morning. Afterwards the rain came and led to postponements. A new schedule has been created with the first round hopefully getting concluded on Tuesday.
On day one reigning vice champion Germany had to settle for a 1-3 loss to Belgium, which also took advantage of a rain-filled early ending in the top of the sixth. Russia beat Spain. Denmark crushed Israel and then suffered a lopsided loss to Italy. Great Britain shut out Serbia. The Netherlands and Lithuania earned 7-0 victories due to the withdrawal of Ukraine right before the event.
