AVG Draci Brno – DOOR Neptunus 4-3 (10)
While AVG Draci Brno doesn’t dominate at home in the Czech Extraleague, they currently do at the European Cup in Parma, trying to qualify for the Final Four at home in September. On Thursday they stunned the Dutch champion DOOR Neptunus 4-3 in ten innings. Martin Schneider delivered the game winner with a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the first extra inning. Neptunus led 3-1 after seven innings, but the Dragons cut the deficit to a run in the eighth and tied the contest on back-to-back doubles of Pavel Chroust and Karel Hrusovsky. Jeffrey Arends homered and drove in two for Rotterdam. Schneider (W) also picked up the win after two scoreless innings of relief. Arshwin Asjes (L) was charged with the blown save and the loss.
Tenerife Marlins Puerto Cruz – Rouen Huskies 0-1
After an exciting pitcher’s duel between Owen Ozanich (W) and Eric Gonzalez (L), the Rouen Huskies prevailed 1-0 over the Tenerife Marlins. The lone run scored in the fourth, when David Gauthier doubled in Jordan Crystal. Ozanich allowed just six hits and two walks in nine scoreless innings, striking out just one. Gonzalez conceded nine hits, the run and two bb in also nine innings. He collected eleven strikeouts.
T&A San Marino – Cariparma Parma 10-0 (8)
T&A San Marino won the inner Italian Baseball League duel at the European Cup in Parma against host Cariparma Parma by a score of 10-0. After taking a 5-0 lead through four innings, five runs in the bottom of the eighth led to the early ending due to ten-run rule. Tiago Da Silva (W) struck out ten in seven scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and two walks. Wuilliuans Vasquez hit a three-run double in the eighth. Tony Granato scored three times. Mihai Burlea (L) surrendered nine hits, five runs (2 ER) and two bb in six innings.
