Suddenly, there were only two. The European Cup final will feature clubs from Slovenia and Sweden, as Kranjski Lisjaki dispatched Switzerland’s Therwill Flyers in one semifinal, while the London Mets’ historic run finished in a matchup with Rättvik Butchers in a game determined by defense. It was the seventh-place game, however, that proved to be the most entertaining, as the Borgerhout Squirrels and Sundbyberg Heat combined for 44 runs, 45 hits—including 11 doubles, a triple, and three home runs, plus 16 walks and 16 strikeouts.
Among the highlights of the Belgium–Sweden slugfest were two home runs from Borgerhout’s Sam Boermans; a dinger, two doubles, a single, and six RBI from Sundbyberg’s Linus Sjölund; and four hits from the Heat’s Lukas Jellnor and Daniel Franco, with the victors’ Nils Imbert also posting a quartet of base knocks.
