European Championship Playoff 2019: Israel shuts out Lithuania, sweep Series en route to Bonn

Posted on July 29, 2019 by philipp

All 12 teams for the European Championship 2019 in Bonn and Solingen, Germany (September 7 to 15, tickets: www.baseball-em.de) are set. Israel punched the last ticket with a 2-0 sweep in the best-of-three playoff series against Lithuania.

Following the 12-2 win on Friday, they dominated with a 15-0 shutout on Saturday. Gabe Cramer pitched five one-hit innings for the win. Simon Rosenbaum hit a home run and drove in five runs. Israel already led 6-0 after the first inning.

For Israel it will be the first ever participation at a European Championship. They are slotted into Pool A together with defending champion Netherlands, host Germany, Great Britain, Czech Republic and Sweden.

Lithuania now has lost a playoff series in two consecutive years. In 2018 they were beaten by Austria, also in two games.
