The European Championship C-Pool in Miejska Gorka, Poland started on Monday with two games. Estonia and Poland celebrated wins on opening day. The round robin continues through Friday. The top two teams qualify for the final on Saturday. The winner of the tournament qualifies for the European Championship B-Level.
Estonia – Georgia 7-4
Estonia won the opening game at the European Championship C-Pool 7-4 against Georgia. Estonia broke a 1-1 tie with a three-run home run by Matti Emery and always had an answer when Georgia had cut the deficit. Emery led the way with three runs and three RBI. He also pitched the last three innings to close out the win. Ergo Rohi conceded one run on three hits and four base on balls in six innings to receive the victory. Luka Gakhokidze got charged with the loss.
Poland – Hungary 13-0 (7)
Poland scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth en route to an easy 13-0 win over Hungary in seven innings. Jakub Wojtczak hit a home run. Marek Podgorski went 4-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI. Maciej Wroblewski scored three runs. Marek Deska struck out ten in seven scoreless four-hit innings. Daniel Erdelyi surrendered six hits, seven runs (5 ER) and four base on balls in 3 1/3 innings to take the loss.
