Poland has won the European Championship C-Pool in Miejska Gorka with a 7-1 win over Romania in the championship game on Saturday. With the victory Poland qualifies for next year’s European Championship B-Pool.
Tournament MVP Marek Deska led the way, allowing just six hits, a run and a walk in a nine-inning complete game performance in the final. He struck out ten and picked up his second win of the week.
At the plate Poland took a quick 4-0 lead through three innings and didn’t look back. Mariusz Grzanowski drove in two runs. Maciej Wroblewski crossed the plate two times. Kacper Kaminski went 3-for-5 with a double, a run and a RBI. Dan Panaitescu scored the lone run for Romania. Iulian Serban got charged with the loss.
Poland completed the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record. Romania finished in second place ahead of Estonia, Hungary and Georgia.
