European Champions Cup 2018 in Rotterdam: Curacao Neptunus defends Title with Shutout

Posted on June 10, 2018June 10, 2018 by philipp

Curacao Neptunus Rotterdam has defended its title at the 2018 European Champions Cup in Rotterdam. At their home stadium they shut out ASD Rimini 5-0 on Sunday evening. After Diegomar Markwell threw a five-hitter in the semi-final against the Rouen Huskies the day before, Orlando Yntema topped him with a four-hit complete game shutout, striking out 11. On offense Shaldimar Daantji and Quintin De Cuba hit home runs. Darryl Collins drove in two.

Curacao Neptunus remained undefeated in the tournament. Unipol Bologna finished in third place ahead of Rouen, Draci Brno and the Heidenheim Heidekoepfe (both fifth). L&D Amsterdam beat T&A San Marino in the relegation game on Sunday morning, meaning San Marino has to start in the CEB Cup next year. Their spot will be taken by Belgium, which won it thanks to Borgerhout Squirrels’ win at the CEB Cup in Ostrava.
