Italy picked up its first win in the Europe/Africa Olympic Baseball Qualifier on Thursday with a 5-1 win over the Czech Republic in Bologna. Chris Colabello paced the Squadra Azzurri with a sac fly, a home run and four RBI in the first three innings to give Italy a quick lead. Andrew Maggi scored three times. Giuseppe Mazzanti added a RBI single. Martin Cervenka drove in the lone Czech run in the top of the first. Angelo Palumbo pitched six solid innings for the win. Radim Chroust took the loss.
