Europe/Africa Olympic Baseball Qualifier 2019: Israel scores early, often in win over Netherlands

Israel improved to 2-0 at the Europe/Africa Olympic Baseball Qualifier in Parma on Thursday with an 8-1 win over European Champion Netherlands. With the victory Israel sits atop of the standings ahead of another key matchup against Italy on Friday evening. Nick Rickles hit a two-run home run in the first and after the Dutch team cut the deficit to 1-2 in the top of the second, Israel added four runs in the bottom half to decide the outcome early. Mitch Glasser drove in three. Rob Paller scored two runs. Kalian Sams drove in the lone run for the Netherlands with a double. Jeremy Bleich picked up the win in relief of Jonathan Moscot. Diegomar Markwell got charged with the loss.
