Draci Brno closed out the regular season in the Euro League Baseball with a 7-5 victory over the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg. Brno improved to 6-2, while Regensburg dropped to 3-5 and behind the Munich-Haar Disciples (3-5) in the standings. Brno already had won 7-1 on Monday.
The game was delayed for nearly two hours due to thunderstorms and also was cut short after eight innings. Brno took a quick 2-0 lead against Mike Bolsenbroek and led as much as 5-0 in the contest. BK Kang put Regensburg on the board with a three-run home run in the sixth. However Draci added two more insurance runs to make sure a late rally by the Buchbinder Legionaere had only statistical merit.
Kang drove in four runs overall in the game. Jason Jarvis had four hits for Brno. Petr Cech scored two runs against his former club. Petr Minarik and Martin Schneider, who earned the win in relief, combined to allow just three hits in the first five innings. Bolsenbroek got charged with the loss after two innings of work following his return from the Honkbalweek Haarlem.
The first Euro League Baseball season was supposed to be played with four teams, but Amsterdam Baseball was withdrawn after KNBSB prohibited their players to participate in the ELB. No information has been released as of now if the end of the regular season is already the end or if a final between Draci and the Disciples will conclude the premiere season of Euro League Baseball.
Standings ELB after regular season:
1) Draci Brno 6-2
2) Munich-Haar Disciples 3-5
3) Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg 3-5
