The Italian Baseball League club De Angelis Godo brings back two talented 20-year-old players, who played for the Italian national team during the 2007 European Championship Juniors and the 2008 European Championship Under-21. Erik Gelli (picture) and Marco Sabbatani both played for Godo in 2005, when the club was in the Serie A2. Afterwards they spent three seasons with Italmet Marina di Ravenna and one with So.ge.se. Livorno.
According to the report on Baseball.it Gelli is a fast middle infielder with a strong arm. The left-handed batter hit .262 (OBP .303/SLG .362) with one homerun, two triples, six doubles, 15 runs scored and 13 RBI in 36 games. Sabbatani is a catcher who threw out 14 runners in 24 attempts. The switch hitter batted .282 (OBP .361/SLG .376) with three triples, five doubles, 20 runs scored and eight RBI in 34 games in 2009.
