Already for the third time this season the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg are replacing their foreign starting pitcher for the game twos each week. They sent Jerome Burton Jr. home and have added Eric Faint to the pitching staff.
Burton Jr. had succeeded Chris Paterson a few weeks ago, who had left at the beginning of May. According to a newspaper report the club wasn’t satisfied with the performance of Burton Jr., who had a 1-0 record with an ERA of 3.77 in three starts. He struck out ten in 14 1/3 innings, while walking eleven.
The 23-year-old Faint pitched in the independent Arizona Winter League this year and has German connections, as his grandparents live in Osterhofen. During his college career he pitched for the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown (NCAA Division II) and had a career ERA of 3.23.
