ELB_witThe Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg got some payback for the 1-4 loss from Tuesday and defeated Draci Brno 3-1 on Wednesday in the second game of the new Euro League Baseball. Two runs in the top of the seventh broke the tie and gave both teams a 1-1 record.

After three scoreless frames to start the contest, Brno struck first and took a 1-0 lead in the fourth through a sac fly Tomas Polansky. A sac fly by Alexander Schmidt one inning later tied the game for the Buchbinder Legionaere.

In the seventh initiated the decisive rally with two outs, when Marcel Jimenez reached on an error at first. A walk by Schmidt put two runners on. Lukas Jahn and Nino Sacasa followed with RBI singles and got the German vice champion ahead by two runs. The Czech team couldn’t answer and Regensburg had its first ELB win in the books.

Blake Hassebrock, Daniel Mendelsohn, Gabriel Camino and Jan Tomek pitched for the Buchbinder Legionaere. Radim Chroust, Jan Vasourek and Michal Sobotka took the mound for Draci Brno.

The Euro League Baseball continues next week, when the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg host the Munich-Haar Disciples for two games on Tuesday and Wednesday at 7pm in the Armin-Wolf-Arena.
