The Euro League Baseball continued on Monday with a mammoth comeback by Draci Brno over the Munich-Haar Disciples. Trailing by four runs entering the bottom of the ninth, Draci rallied for five runs and beat the German Baseball-Bundesliga squad 5-4 on a two-run walk-off double by Premek Chroust.
It was the second win in three games for Draci, while the Disciples dropped to 0-3. Game two of the series will be played on Tuesday at 7pm, again at MBS Stadium in Brno.
Led by a strong performance of starting pitcher DJ Jauss, the Disciples dominated for eight innings. Runs by Ruben Manriquez, Simon Lechner, Ty Eriksen and William Thorp gave Munich-Haar a 4-0 lead after six innings. However in the ninth Jauss lost his rhythm and the game. Alex Derhak and Pavel Budsky got Brno on the board with RBI singles. Facing reliever Greg Hendrix, Chroust stepped to the plate and hit a full-count pitch for the decisive game-ending double.
