The Euro League Baseball got underway on Tuesday evening at MBS Stadium in Brno, Czech Republic with Draci Brno defeated the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg 4-1. Adam Hajtmar scored three of the four Draci runs to lead the way.
Brno took a quick 1-0 lead against Mike Bolsenbroek, when Martin Schneider drove in Adam Hajtmar in the first. Bong Kyu Kang then tied the game in the fourth after David Dinski’s ground ball was misplayed by Draci’s shortstop. The hosts regained the lead in the sixth thanks to another Schneider-Hajtmar production. This time Schneider doubled to push Hajtmar over the plate. In the eighth a RBI single by Premek Chroust and a bases loaded walk by Petr Cech provided some insurance for Draci.
Jason Jarvis earned the win, allowing five hits, an unearned run and a walk in seven innings. He struck out seven. Petr Minarik and Schneider closed it out. Bolsenbroek pitched three innings for the guests from Germany. Jonathan Eisenhuth took over in the fourth and took the loss. Bradley Merritt also went to the mound for the Buchbinder Legionaere.
Both teams will meet again on Wednesday evening at 7pm, again at MBS Stadium in Brno.
