ELB_witThe Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg swept the two-game series in the Euro League Baseball against the Munich-Haar Disciples this week. After the 13-8 win on Tuesday they prevailed 6-2 one day later. Regensburg now is 3-1 in the ELB, while the Disciples started 0-2.

Christoph Ziegler brought the Disciples up in front with a RBI single in the first. But Regensburg tied the game with a RBI fielder’s choice by Chris Zirzlmeier in the third. In the fifth a RBI double by Maik Ehmcke got them the lead. A sac fly by Lukas Jahn, a RBI single by Matt Vance and a two-run double by David Dinski helped the Buchbinder Legionaere to add four runs in the sixth and seventh. A RBI single by Jan Endrejat in the eighth was responsible for Haar’s second run.

Matt Vance led all batters by going 4-for-4. Blake Hassebrock, David Brandl and Daniel Mendelsohn pitched for Regensburg, DJ Jauss, Etienne Probst and Cody Chartrand for the Disciples. Jauss issued eight hits, four runs and five walks in six innings to take the loss. Brandl pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief for the win.

The Euro League Baseball continues in two weeks with Draci Brno hosting the Munich-Haar Disciples on May 9 and 10.
