El Llano hopes to close gap to Marlins

Posted on July 11, 2008 by philipp

After EL LLANO stunned CB SANT BOI last weekend, they hope to defeat the MARLINS in Puerto Cruz, Tenerife this game day. They are currently three games behind the 2007 champion and could get back in the mix for the championship with two victories. Obviously a sweep against them would mean a step back.

Carlos Fente (2-1, ERA 2.53) and Elvis Polanco (4-2, ERA 3.00) started for the team from Gijon the past few weeks and did a good job. They have to stop Richard Montiel (.347, 7 HR, 28 RBI) and Dewis Navarro (.361, 21 runs, 18 RBI) at the top of the MARLINS offense. Leslie Nacar (6-1, ERA 1.24) or Renny Duarte (3-1, ERA 1.59) is starting in the first match for PUERTO CRUZ. Ivan Granados (9-1, ERA 1.88) is the main stay in the second. EL LLANO’s offense is led by Roberto Noriega (.468, 20 runs, 26 RBI) and Pedro Mendez (.366, 26 runs).
