Bulgaria scored nine runs in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 13-3 win over Serbia at the Qualifier in Zagreb. Serbia had just cut the deficit to a run in the top of the frame, when Bulgaria kicked off the big rally. Dimitar Nassapov scored three times. Stefan Beshkov hit a homerun and drove in three. Petyo Petkov (W) allowed four hits, three unearned runs and two walks in seven innings. Sinisa Vajdic (L) gave up 11 hits, nine runs (8 ER) and three bb in six-plus innings.

Croatia scored five runs in the first two innings in a 10-0 seven-inning shutout over Slovenia, improving to 2-0 in the tournament. Slobodan Gales tripled, scored three times and drove in three. He also stole two bases. Ernesto Pereira, Danijel Levak (W) and Marin Farkas combined to throw seven scoreless innings. Grega Valancic (L) went the distance for Serbia, allowing eight hits, ten runs (4 ER) and six walks in 6 1/3 innings.
