Slovenia scored ten runs in the two frames en route to a 16-1 victory over Serbia in the opener of the European Championship Qualifier in Zagreb, Croatia. Francesco Miani (W) allowed just an unearned run on one hit in six innings. Serbec and Trobec combined for seven RBI. Vlastimir Arandelovic (L) was charged with six hits, ten runs (5 ER) and four bb in two innings for the loss. He had the lone hit and run for Serbia.

Croatia scored three runs in the top of the fourth to break a 3-3 tie in a 9-5 win over Romania. Slobodan Gales initiated the rally with a RBI double. Ivan Racic followed with a two-run double a few minutes later. Andre Apostoaei went 4-for-4 with three RBI for Romania. Mario Zdelar (W) gave up seven hits, three runs (2 ER) and four bb in seven innings. Italian Baseball League hurler Mihai Burlea (L) struck out ten in six innings, but also surrendered eleven hits, seven runs (5 ER) and five bb to take the loss.
