Romania also won their fourth game of the preliminary round on Friday, defeating Hungary 3-2. They took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the third, when Andrei Lucaciu doubled home a run, stole third and scored the second on a sac fly by Sorin Serbanescu. In the sixth Crisitan Radu reached through a walk, moved to third via a steal and an error by the pitcher and scored the third run, when he also stole home. This insurance run was even more important, when Hungary cut the deficit to 2-3 with a RBI single by Zsolt Zalabai.

Zalabai (L 0-2) also took the loss, after allowing four hits, two runs and a walk in five innings. Adrian Preda (W 1-0) gave up two hits, one unearned run and two base on balls in three innings.

Slovakia completed the Qualifier with a 10-0 victory against Finland. Lucas Zilavy had three hits and three RBI. Alexander Vaclavik, Jan Jablonka and Igor Jankovic each drove in two.

Daniel Orlicky (SVK) started and allowed two hits and two walks in three innings. Tomas Biskorovajny (W 1-0) picked up the win. Timo Liiri (L 0-2) allowed five hits, five runs (4 ER) and a walk and was replaced before he even got an out in the first.
