Led by a tremendous Kalian Sams the Dutch national team routed Belgium 17-0 in six innings on Friday evening in Rotterdam to open the 2012 European Championship with a blowout. The minor leaguer hit for the cycle, going 4-for-4 with a homerun, a triple, a double, four runs scored and a whopping eight RBI. Hainley Statia scored three times. Wesley Connor also went deep for the Netherlands. Tom Stuifbergen allowed just four hits and a walk in six scoreless innings for the win. Kenny Vandenbranden was charged with the loss, issuing three hits, three runs and a bb in two innings. 2,000 people saw the game at Familie Stadium.
