Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg – L&D Amsterdam 1-9
L&D Amsterdam picked up the first Dutch win in European Cup competitions in 2013 with a 9-1 victory over the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg at the Armin-Wolf-Arena in Regensburg on Wednesday evening.
The Pirates scored six quick runs in the first two frames for an early and lopsided lead. Michael Duursma and Bas de Jong had two RBI apiece for the Hoofdklasse team. Duursma and Bjorn Hato combined to score five of the nine runs. Matt Vance had two hits and a RBI for the Buchbinder Legionaere.
Ben Grover pitched into the seventh inning, giving up just one run on five hits and two walks for the win. Mike Bolsenbroek got charged with six hits, six runs (3 ER) and two bb in just 1 2/3 frames against his countrymen. James Larsen and Philipp Meyer managed to stop the Amsterdam offense afterwards a little bit and helped avoiding a mercy rule loss for the host.
