(2-0) Solingen Alligators – Therwil Flyers 1-0
The Solingen Alligators have won their own European Cup Qualifier on Saturday, after defeating the Therwil Flyers 1-0 in the finals. Due to their victory from Thursday the Alligators swept the best-of-three series 2-0 and qualified for the European Cup Playoff in September.
Solingen’s starting pitcher Nils Hartkopf (W 1-0) put on a show on the mound, allowing just seven hits and a walk in nine innings, striking out 13. Evan Porter delivered the lone run of the day with a solo homerun in the bottom of the fifth frame.
The Flyers made one last attempt to get back into the game in the top of the ninth when they loaded the bases with no outs. But Hartkopf escaped by striking out Chris Blackbee, Adrian Kaufmann and Emanuel Raouzeos to secure the win. Hideori Oshima (L 0-1) took the loss after six innings, seven hits, a run and three bb.
