North Stars – TJ STU Angels Trnava 4-11
The North Stars lost 4-11 against the Angels Trnava on Friday at the European Cup Qualifier in Brest on Friday. They are still qualified for the best-of-three final series against Dinamo Bucharest on Saturday, where they face a 0-1 deficit after losing the preliminary match on Wednesday. Mikie Wieda (W 2-0) struck out 15 batters in nine innings for the Angels, giving up ten hits, four runs (3 ER) and a walk. Marek Cerveny had the most productive day at the plate, scoring twice and drive in three runs. Pavel Talakin (L 0-1) took the loss, issuing eight hits, ten runs (5 ER) and two bb in five innings.
Dinamo Bucharest – KNTU Elizavetgrad 7-9
Dinamo Bucharest suffered its first loss of the week, as KNTU Elizavetgrad scored seven runs in the first two frames en route to a 9-7 win. A three-run rally by Dinamo in the seventh made things interesting towards the end, but the Romanian champion couldn’t score anymore afterwards. Ruslan Deykun reached base five times in the game and scored three runs. Maksym Lisnitsky drove in three.
Kaunas Lituanica – Brest Zubrs 1-8
Host Brest Zubrs concluded the preliminary round on Friday with an 8-1 win over Kaunas Lituanica. They put three runs on the board in the second and the sixth to blow things wide open. Kaunas had taken a short-lived lead in the opening frame on a RBI single by William Gordon. Siarhei Sokal drove in three for Brest. Aliakse Aliaksandrau didn’t get a hit or a walk in five plate appearances, but still managed to score twice and to drive in two. Viachasl Pivavarchuk (W 1-1) went the distance, issuing five hits, a run and four bb in nine innings. Vilius Dulinskas (L 0-1) took the loss.
