Dinamo Bucharest – North Stars 6-2
Dinamo Bucharest overcame a 0-2 deficit after the opening frame to beat the North Stars 6-2 on Wednesday at the EC Qualifier in Brest, Belarus. They tied the game in the second period and took the lead in the third. Mihai Georgescu (W 1-0) did it all. He allowed just two runs (1 ER) on five hits and three bb in nine innings on the mound, striking out nine. At the plate and on the base paths he went 2-for-2 with a pair of walks and three runs scored. Adrian Preda and George Bela got two RBI each. Aleksandr Tarasov (L 0-1) took the loss.
TJ STU Angels Trnava – Kaunas Lituanica 4-9
Kaunas Lituanica broke a 4-4 tie against the Angels Trnava with a four-run rally in the sixth on their way to a 9-4 win on day three in Brest. Vilius Dulinskas, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, highlighted the frame with a two-run single. Marijus Dargis and Donata Maciulevicius scored twice for Kaunas. Dargis (W 1-0) also picked up the win in relief, striking out eight batters in 4 1/3 scoreless two-hit innings. Igor Jankovic drove in two for the Angels.
KNTU Elizavetgrad – Brest Zubrs 7-3
KNTU Elizavetgrad scored five runs in the fourth en route to a 7-3 win over host Brest Zubrs. Andriy Kubalsky and Olexiy Nezhiborets crossed the plate twice for KNTU. Stanislau Novik went 3-for-4 with a run and a RBI for Brest. Viktor Dovgalenko (W 1-0) struck out eight in nine innings, issuing ten hits, three runs (1 ER) and two bb. Viachasl Pivavarchuk (L 0-1) took the loss after three-plus innings, five hits, four runs (3 ER) and two walks.
