Draci Brno – Corendon Kinheim 0-1
After the morning game in Montjuic was rained out, Corendon Kinheim and Draci Brno met in the afternoon and turned the contest into a pitcher’s duel. David Bergman narrowly won over Martin Schneider and led his Kinheim teammates to a 1-0 victory.
Bergman issued just two hits and a walk in nine scoreless innings. He threw 111 pitches and struck out ten to lead the way. Schneider nearly matched up, but still ended up with the loss after four hits, a run and a base on balls in nine frames.
Mervin Gario scored the lone run of the game in the fifth inning. He got hit by a pitch with one out, stole second and scored the game-winner thanks to a single by Rachid Engelhardt. Zachary Samuels had both hits for Draci.
Both teams are now 3-2 in the tournament and await their fate in tonight’s matchup between Telemarket Rimini and the Untouchables Paderborn (rescheduled from 10.30am to 730pm due to the rain). All four teams could end up with a 3-2 record with a win by Paderborn.
